Why are our properties so oddly shaped? In a word, topography. If the property were flat or near flat, straight line surveys would be appropriate. When land has some shape this type of division makes less sense. The property lines in Hardwood Mountain Preserve follow the natural contours of the land. This allows for a more a balanced mix of natural features and leaves the hills for building. This map also shows our nature trail system.
